not too impressed with the V1...after hearing raves from practically everyone in person and on the net, after 3 weeks with it, cant say it lived up to expectations. maybe i was expecting too much. pros:
radar locator - atleast u know where to look
different audible warnings - can tell what it is without looking at the display
remote capability - a nice feature if u want stealth
counter - lets u know how many sources, dont really see the utility of this (if its going off im staying low regardless if its 1 or 5) but still a nice feature cons:
late warnings - for example, driving through Plano (the cops up here must be broke cuz they are ALWAYS set up on 75 and legacy, sometimes two at a time blasting the Ka) my V1 goes off after i see the cop practically every time. maybe their using instant on but im usually in traffic, or he has someone pulled over, i.e. no one in the police unit. thats way too late. unacceptable.
falsing - not any better than the passport 8500 which is $100 less, thing goes crazy in shopping centers i have yet to try it on the open road, maybe thats where its utility lies...regardless its not the "ultimate" radar detector i was expecting. just my 2cents.
